Why HK Tech Meetup?

"When I came to HK recently it struck me that this is a tech ecosystem that is just about to take off. Just like Stockholm a few years ago. One of the key things that accelerated the take-off was STHLM TECH MEETUP, today Europe's largest monthly event for startups. As the founder happens to live in the region, I thought "why not bring him and let him do his magic here?" // Lukas Duczko, Organiser

Tyler Crowley is the founder of STHLM Tech Meetup, Europe's largest monthly event for startups with over 500 attendees each month. The secret sauce is his unconventional style. The startup pitches rarely go uninterrupted. Tyler will stop the startup founders to give live feedback and ask the VCs for their live input. Often funny. Sometimes nerve wracking. Always very inspiring and educational.

Proud to present!

We are excited to have Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund and Gobi Partners as featured guests! Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund is a Hong Kong focused evergreen fund with a mission to accelerate Hong Kong entrepreneurship. Gobi Partners was first established over 15 years ago to focus on home-grown innovation. Today, Gobi manages nine funds, and has grown to seven offices across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Gobi Partners is the investment manager for Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund.

Tyler will interview Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund and Gobi Partners about their funds, how they work together and their engagement in the Hong Kong tech ecosystem.

Thereafter three local startups will pitch and get live feedback from Tyler and the VCs during the pitch session.

WHub will share some statistics on ecosystem development for the past years and what events are up this month.

HKEX will tell us more about their new Innovation Lab and how they plan to work with local startups and the tech community

We will also co-create a tech community hashtag for the purpose of creating a live feed on whats going on in the ecosystem.
